Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.

Life does this amazing thing for you when you take the time to slow down and work to live as opposed to live to work.  One of the main reasons that I as well as Magnolia’s Sweet Haven moved to the Savannah, GA / Hilton Head, SC (the Coastal Empire / Lowcountry) area was to begin enjoying more of the “why” I so diligently bus my asparagus on a daily basis rather, than the business of the “how”.

Admittedly, I am a work horse with a full gamut of things that have, will, and MUS T happen.  This entrepreneurial empire is NOT going to build itself. :-)  March, is one of those reflective months for me.  I often think about my grandmother, Magnolia, and many of the things she instilled in me, including her passion for family and entrepreneurship and compassion for being an addictive giver.  She would have been 91 years young this month and I KNEW I wanted to do something that championed her spirit of giving back and encompassed my love of desserts.

Well something has been holding in my heart for two years too long and I’ve decided to share it with you . . . yes, YOU!  I was often told by my grandmother to always “write it down”.  You know; my goals and dreams, ideas, what I wanted from this wonderful gift of life.  Not sure about any of you, but am I the only one that carries a small notebook around in my handbag or jots thoughts and new discoveries down on the back of envelopes and scrap pieces of paper found in my handbag!?  Someone out there is raising their hand right now and talking to the screen of their smartphone or laptop saying, “San, you are not alone!”. ;-)

Now back to that wonderful and EPIC goal of giving back that I want to share with y’all.  Formally, I introduce to you with the same fervor, love, and compassion of my grandmothers giving spirit, Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc. ®

Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.®

Did you know that each month of the year, except August and December has a National Cancer Awareness, with some months hosting multiple cancers?  Well I present to you something that has been holding in my heart for nearly two years too long, now . . . Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.®

Created and founded by Santresa Glass, Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.® will be a national and global movement presented by Magnolia’s Sweet Haven, LLC to bake one or two cheesecake flavors per month (either new or existing flavor(s) to the organization) to sell at a discounted price to clients.  Part of the proceeds from the sells of CFTH, Inc. will go to the local charities specific to the cancer awareness month.  March, for example, is National Colon Cancer and Kidney Cancer Awareness month.  The colors of the ribbons are dark blue for Colon Cancer and carrot orange for Kidney Cancer.  The colors of each ribbon will be taken into consideration for flavor profiles and decor of the cheesecakes, which MUST be sold by the dozen in individual (miniature) portions.

The purpose of Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.® is to bring awareness throughout the year (YEAR ROUND) of the various types of cancers battled daily by numerous, strong individuals during the month of their cancer awareness.  Ideally, there would be a desire for bakers (professional and hobbiest) to participate within their local communities, states, and countries through giving back using the Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.® licensing packet as a platform to share information about as well as bring recognition to the various cancer awareness in each respective month throughout the year.

Why I Bake?

MISSION
The mission of Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc. is to generate an interactive and educational platform about the various cancer awareness causes that take place throughout out the year, through the baking and selling of individual portioned cheesecakes during the respective host month in which significant contributions, through donations to cancer research and cancer research facilities can be made.

EMPOWERMENT
My work in the kitchen and within local communities will foster the compassion, strength, and fervor of those currently battling cancer, having survived cancer, or lost their battle with cancer as well as the spirits of the families that champion their FIGHT!

EDUCATION
I want to educate the masses about each specific cancer type in the respective awareness month.  I am sure that having a nontraditional slice of cheesecake will help in interacting with all of the diverse cancer fighters, survivors, and their families.

LAUGHTER
There is nothing quite healing as that of the power of laughter. Humor can be an effective therapy. I want to foster a Baking Ambassador community, nationwide and globally, that injects and uses laughter’s power in battling cancer.

Licensing Packet

The following is a tentative list of how the licensing packet will be formulated for Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.®:
  • Baking Ambassador T-Shirt, Bracelet, and Pin with Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc. logo,
  • An official signed license to participate as a Baking Ambassador for Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc. for one year,
  • Additional promotional information and materials.

Some of the official regulations are:

  • There must be a minimum of at least one new or existing to the organization flavor/flavor profile per month that aligns with the specific cancer and color ribbon,
  • A portion of the proceeds (minimum requirement of 10%) MUST go to the specific cancer(s) research/research facility/foundation for that month in the form of a check from Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc.® and name of said organization/baker that has been chosen and licensed as a Baking Ambassador for CFTCInc.,
  • An additional 5% of all sales per cancer awareness month with Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc. MUST be donated back to the general funds (this is in addition to the initial minimum 10% donation of a portion of the proceeds).
Cheesecake For The Cure, Inc. ® will launch in the month of May (founders birthday month)
with the focus on Brain Cancer and Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness
Brain Cancer – Grey Ribbon
Melanoma and Skin Cancer – Black Ribbon

Each month I will provide a grid that displays the following in each quadrant for Cheesecake For The Cure Inc.®:
  • Quadrant 1 – Name of specific cancer(s) for that month
  • Quadrant 2 – Photo of the miniature/individual portioned cheesecake that has incorporated ribbon color and, or type of cancer awareness
  • Quadrant 3 – Ribbon color(s) specific to type of cancer awareness
  • Quadrant 4 – Educational/Researched information about each cancer awareness

Whew! I know right . . . quite a bit to take in for such an Awe-mazing cause.
